Improving supply chain efficiencies by simplifying the visibility of the data

Professor Eric Ballot of MINES ParisTech shares his vision of the issues in Supply Chain management.

"Today the efficiency of supply chain operations is still very much able to be improved upon. Anything that increases the visibility within the chain at an operational level and which provides clear data can be used as a key axe for improvement. In this sense, it is important to be able to act with mobile logistics solutions which can work on the visibility of the Supply Chain. Sharing information and data between solution providers is important but we need also to create a secure environment between actors, we cannot share everything with everyone. There are certainly commercial and industrial issues behind this aspect of sharing data between actors within the industry. New tools should allow the certification of data and keep them confidential. However, let's face it, these operations are for the moment very under-optimized so all the solutions that can increase visibility will be able to improve all the operations of the supply chain. "
